“60 Minutes” asks President Obama Tough Questions (transcript)

Finally someone in the press asks Obama tough questions (link includes full transcript):

Steve Kroft: The last time we talked was this time last year, and the situation in Syria and Iraq had begun to worsen vis-à-vis ISIS. You had just unveiled a plan to provide air support for troops in Iraq, and also some air strikes in Syria, and the training and equipping of a moderate Syrian force. You said that this would degrade and eventually destroy ISIS.

President Barack Obama: Over time.

Steve Kroft: Over time. It’s been a year, and–

President Barack Obama: I didn’t say it was going to be done in a year.

Steve Kroft: No. But you said…

President Barack Obama: There’s a question in here somewhere.

Steve Kroft: There’s a question in here. I mean, if you look at the situation and you’re looking for progress, it’s not easy to find. You could make the argument that the only thing that’s changed really is the death toll, which has continued to escalate, and the number of refugees fleeing Syria into Europe.

Hope fades on Obama’s vow to bring troops home before presidency ends

Just another broken promise. Let’s not forget that Obama ran on expanding the Afghanistan War. He leaves office having failed to conclude the conflict successfully. He should get the blame if and when the Taliban regain power in Afghanistan. Obama will also leave office with chaos in the middle East:

In meeting after meeting this spring and summer, President Obama insisted that the last American troops in Afghanistan would return home by the end of his presidency, definitively ending the longest war in American history.

Obama and his closest foreign policy advisers laid out the reasons for his military commanders. Keeping as many as 10,000 troops in Afghanistan indefinitely at a cost of as much as $10 billion to $15 billion a year wasn’t politically feasible or financially responsible. There were more pressing domestic priorities that needed money. The country faced bigger threats.

Plunging 5.1% Unemployment Rate Belies Record Low Labor Participation

This anti-labor President would love you to believe that he’s been a successful managing the economy in reducing the unemployment rate. The underlying facts prove otherwise. The truth is Obama has been a disaster for American workers, just like his predecessor:

The August unemployment report shows steady as she goes sorts of statistics. Yet, the report is really a mixed bag. The unemployment rate dropped two tenths of a percentage point to be 5.1%. The labor participation rate remained the same, 62.6%, and hasn’t changed for three months. Once again over a quarter of a million people dropped out of the labor force. The ranks of the unemployed dropped almost as much and those employed grew by almost two hundred thousand. Generally speaking one month of employment statistics isn’t enough to base any conclusions on, but the labor participation rate has remained at it’s October 1977 low for three months now. Once again the very low unemployment rate makes the picture look much better than the situation really is.

NY Times Article Shamelessly Claims “Obama Champions Workers’ Rights”

Are we talking about the same President? This is the same Obama that pushed for TPP against the wishes of his own party. This legislation would further enslave working people throughout the world, include the United States. The fact that Republicans support the President on this issue is all the proof you need. Then there is the fact that he has done very little to get a minimum wage increase. The Previous President, a Republican, passed an increase. Why not Obama? Then there is the rising income inequality and declining wages of American workers.

To say this President is championing workers’ rights is a laughable statement.

Jon Stewart’s secret White House visits

Jon Stewart slipped unnoticed into the White House in the midst of the October 2011 budget fight, summoned to an Oval Office coffee with President Barack Obama that he jokingly told his escort felt like being called into the principal’s office. In February 2014, Obama again requested Stewart make the trip from Manhattan to the White House, this time for a midmorning visit hours before the president would go before television cameras to warn Russia that “there will be costs” if it made any further military intervention in Ukraine. To engage privately with the president in his inner sanctum at two sensitive moments — previously unreported meetings that are listed in the White House visitor logs and confirmed to POLITICO by three former Obama aides — speaks volumes about Stewart and his reach, which goes well beyond the million or so viewers who tune in to “The Daily Show” on most weeknights.

White House Petition Scam

What is the point of signing a White House petition if the result is to insult the signees? That’s what happened with the Edward Snowden pardon petition. Despite 100k+ signatures the response was Snowden should stop hiding under Russia’s skirt and return home and accept his punishment like a man.

What’s the point? Maybe it’s a scam to get email addresses for future election mass mailings?
